Day 52 – The Tell-Tale Heart

About 30 hours without power. Over 48 hours without phone or Internet. As I said to several people once contact had been re-established, going off the grid is great when it’s planned and you are taking a little vay-cay. It sucks though when you still have work on the go on said grid, yet you can’t quite reach it…

In fact it was so unpleasant, we broke down and got a cell phone

Did manage to keep some novel writing up during the black out, thanks to my wonderful HP Netbook. I like getting out and taking in a coffee shop or some other venue for a change of scenery. I wouldn’t do it all the time, but the little distractions it brings can be exciting in itself, which will hopefully inject some energy. Not that I need energy — that’s one area of the writing that seems to be clicking along nicely. But hey, shaking it up every now and then certainly won’t hurt.

Oh, wrote a new first 300 words or so to start the novel. Struck me out of the blue today, so I took a few minutes to write it down. Actually, I had the first line in my head for a while, and it’s stuck so that I take to be a good sign. From there it flowed the intro that lays down the basic story, setting out the — map? kernel? — of what’s to come.

Right now, wrestling with a pretty intense and important part of the story. The second main character lays some pretty heavy stuff on the main character. Not quite sure how it’s going to play out, but looking forward to finding out.
