Day 100 – Ahead by a Century

Day 99 – 99 Bottles of Beer on the Wall (Of Course)
Big day! Lots of good word goodness on the page, and a fairly big milestone – my last day in double digits. Admittedly, I haven’t written every single one of those 99 days, but I’m still writing, so I’ll count that as a win. Plus, I tripped over the 90,000-word mark, so double-plus-good-on-ya!

Day 75 – 75,000 Words and Mission:Impossible!
On Thursday night, I sat down to do my hour. A few minutes later, I was overcome with a wave of nausea. It was kind of like that scene in Mission: Impossible (the first movie) where the tech goes into the locked room, and then the drug kicks in, and he has to leave. Except in the end, I wasn’t sick like that, though I certainly wasn’t well.
Yesterday, got some work in and felt better, but increasingly worse as the day wore on, so didn’t get my hour in there either.
(Incidentally, when I did get back to my office, there was a huge, black, military-style bowie knife stuck into my desk. Instinctively I looked up; the laser motion sensors were still working in the drop ceiling. Weird. But if Tom Cruise happens to come out with novel in the next few months, you know what happened…) Continue reading

Day 69 – I Am the Walrus
I used to read George Orwell’s blog. Actually, not a blog per se (in case you didn’t guess) but a posting of his journal entries from exactly 70 years ago. Right now, he’s writing about the London bombing (and, unfortunately, his latest post has a bit of a racist slant…)
In any case, some of his journal entries are long and rich with content. Others, when he didn’t have much to say, would simply recount the number of eggs that the chickens gave him that morning. “One egg.” That would be an entire entry for that day. Regular readers would get such a kick out of it too, like it was an inside joke or something… Continue reading
